John Oliver became a household word in the comedy world for his clever and cutting commentaries as a correspondent on The Daily Show. Comedy Central knew a great thing when they saw it and gave John a slot of his own. The comedy production powerhouse team Art & Industry (Shannon Hartman and Michelle Caputo) was hired to create a stand-up show that would not only give John the vehicle he deserved, but also serve as a showcase for John’s favorite up-and-coming young comedians. In addition to Mr. Oliver, the show has featured popular comics such as Hari Kondabolu, Marc Maron, Iliza Shlesinger, Hannibal Buress and Wyatt Cenac, among many others. Three seasons later, the viewers still can’t get enough.
The show was shot before a live audience at NYU’s very well-equipped Skirball Auditorium, in the shadow of New York’s Washington Square Park.
