Jeff Ravitz has designed the lighting for two PBS specials for spiritual guide and mentor Dr. Wayne Dyer. Dyer has been a mainstay of PBS pledge drives for years, having helped raise literally hundreds of millions of dollars for the network.
For the location of his fifth special for Public Television to launch his new book, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, Dr. Dyer and his producers chose Escondido’s California Center Of The Arts. Ravitz lit the Japanese-inspired set in warm hues and soft textures while making sure Dr. Dyer was covered properly as he worked the front of the stage.
In addition to the lighting design for Dyer’s sixth special, “Excuses Begone”, the design team created a series of slides in order to project text onto several scenic “thought bubbles” you can see hanging behind Dr. Dyer. Ravitz’s associate was Kristie Roldan and the set designer was Scott Heineman. The television director was Bob Comiskey, and the show was produced for Hay House by Niki Vettel and Dennis T. Allen at the California Center For The Arts, Escondido.
