The culmination of the tour that reunited Bruce and the E-Street band after a ten year break, was taped at Madison Square Garden as one of the very first high definition concert specials, and won the Primetime Emmy® for Lighting.

Springsteen’s album, The Rising, was a multi-Grammy nominated blockbuster that expressed Bruce’s emotions about 9/11.The show was originally aired live, in High Def, throughout Europe to an estimated 200 million viewers. Re-edited and broadcast on CBS, the show contains scenes from Bruce’s record breaking performances at Giant’s Stadium and Fenway Park. “Video Music Awards”, MTV.
Bruce agreed to be the lead artist on the 2002 VMAs, but only if he could do it 30 blocks uptown with the Hayden Planetarium in the background. Directed by Hamish Hamilton, “The Rising” was performed in a rainstorm–which only enhanced the power of the song.
