CeeLo Green: Talking to Strangers

Singer and TV superstar, CeeLo Green, hosted his own interview & performance talk show on Fuse TV, Talking To Strangers, which was shot in Hollywood at Red Studios.

The format was straightforward:  CeeLo would interview, in depth, one musical artist or group per episode. After the interview, the musical guests performed at least four songs for the in-studio audience. The assortment of artists was wide and varied, from hip hop talent, Lupe Fiasco, to art rockers, TV On The Radio, followed by Train, Keri Hilson, Grace Potter and Estelle. The shows ran the gamut of modern styles and sounds.

The lighting design for the show needed to have a split personality. The interviews had to have a traditional approach to make the talent look their best with no distractions, while still creating a rich looking environment.  The performance segments were full-on rock concerts played to a live audience, and which employed the most cutting-edge equipment and design techniques.  Both parts of the show occupied the same stage space, so the lighting system integrated the requirements of each.
